About the event

Harvest Keeper is a hands-on community food preservation program designed for Maui farmers, gardeners, and community members who want to learn practical ways to preserve local harvests while supporting food security on Maui.

Each Harvest Keeper event focuses on a different preservation technique, such as canning, pickling, fermentation, dehydration, or other seasonal methods. Through demonstrations and guided, hands-on practice, participants will gain valuable skills that help reduce food waste, increase local food consumption, extend the life of fresh produce, and build greater resilience within our island food system.

Participants will be asked to bring designated ingredients for preservation, which will be announced and emailed closer to the event date. MFSN will provide jars and preservation supplies.

In addition to learning preservation skills, participants will contribute to a community effort to support those experiencing food insecurity. Much of the food preserved during these workshops will be donated to organizations serving Maui…
