Learn affordable, accessible ways to build soil, retain moisture, reduce erosion, and manage green waste while exploring the connections between soil health, drought, wildfire risk, flooding, and climate resilience.
The workshop will include:
Why healthy soil matters — how organic matter and healthy soil can help landscapes retain moisture, withstand dry conditions, and better manage heavy rainfall.
Urban composting basics — learn simple ways to compost food scraps and green waste, even with limited space
Sheet mulching — learn how cardboard, compost, and mulch can protect soil, retain moisture, reduce weeds, and help minimize erosion and runoff.
